Joseph A. Fiore

Joseph A. Fiore, a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut and formerly of the Bronx, died on January 29, 2019. He was 96.

Mr. Fiore was born on May 2, 1922 in Hackensack, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Rosaria (DiFilippo) Fiore. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army’s 63rd Infantry Division (“Blood and Fire”) in the European Theater during World War II where he was awarded a Purple Heart and well as many other awards and citations.

He is survived by his daughter Jolinda Fiore of White Plains; his sisters-in-law, Roberta, Paula, Tiana; and many loving nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Marianna (DiBella) Fiore; his son Rocco J. Fiore; and his siblings, Rocco, Adams, Mary, Antoinette, Jennie, Louis, Vincent, and Salvatore.

Visiting will be Sunday 2-7pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday 10am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx. In lieu of flowers the family prefers contributions to either the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/) or the Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/).

    He was the kindest, most respectful and loving man. You would be a better person for having known Joe Fiore. He was proud of his country and family and was loved by all who ever knew him. You will be greatly missed Joe, but never forgotten. I will always love you Joey

    To my Godfather Uncle Joe,
    You were part of what is called the “Greatest Generation” Your generation was called the “Greatest” because of people like you who made it great.
    You were strong, honest, hard working, kind, friendly, loving, genuine, fun, very handsome and more!!!
    You were a loving Father and loved very much by your Family and Friends.
    Jolinda is your Daughter who you loved so very much.
    Anytime we were around you it was a precious time. You glowed with all the good things you possessed.
    We will miss you. You will never be forgotten.
    I am sad you are gone. I am happy you are with Godmother Marianna, your Son Rocky, Family and Friends especially my Dad, Uncle Sal, Grandma and Grandpa and all your buddies you lost in battel during the War.
    I love you Uncle Joe,
    Thank you for being someone I could look up to in my life.
    You are a good Man.
