John J. DiStefano

John J. DiStefano, a lifelong resident of the Bronx, died on July 28, 2017. He was 90.

 

Mr. DiStefano was born on February 8, 1927 in the Bronx to the late Rosario and Rosa (DiMartino) DiStefano. He served in the US Army during World War II. For many years before his retirement he worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation. On May 6, 1951 he married Evelyn L. Germano. She died on May 6, 2012.

 

In addition to his wife, Evelyn L. DiStefano, he is also pre-deceased by his daughter, Debra DeCamillis, and his sisters, Mary and Rosaria DiStefano. He is survived by his daughters, Celeste Russo and her husband the late Louis, Bernadette Donoghue and her husband Thomas, and Vanessa Costanza and her husband Frankie; his son-in-law, Michael DeCamillis; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Danielle and her husband Anthony, Michael, Amanda, Louis, Jacqueline, Christine, Rachel, John, and Sarah; his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Charlotte; and his brother, Rev. Simeon DiStefano.

 

Visiting will be Tuesday 1-3 & 6-9pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 11am at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Church, 2855 St. Theresa Avenue, Bronx. Entombment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations in his memory to St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Church.

    What a great guy ! And a WWII veteran. Certainly your dad was a sterling member of the greatest generation. So sorry for your loss.
