Joan Cushing

Joan Cushing, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on February 19, 2018. She was 88.

Mrs. Cushing was born on January 11, 1930 in Syracuse, New York to the late Julian and Eleanor (Haffey) Briggman. On June 13, 1959 she married Frank W. Cushing. He died on March 6, 2007.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean Chapin and her husband Bob, Mary Cushing, Sally Hennessy and her husband Tom, and Patty Horan and her husband John; her son, Frank Cushing; her grandchildren, Devyn, Payton, Michael, and Brendan; her brothers, Mark Briggman and his wife Frances and John Briggman and his wife Rita; her sisters, Anna May Scheftic and Charlotte DaVia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be Friday from 2-5 & 7-9pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday 10am at St. Dominic’s Church, 1739 Unionport Road, Bronx. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne.

    I am so saddened by this news My deepest condolences to her family Mrs Cushing was a kind and gentle woman. I would enjoy seeing her at the card parties under the church May she Rest In Peace
