Giovanna “Joanne” Cucinella

Giovanna “Joanne” Cucinella, a longtime resident of the Bronx, died on January 19, 2018. She was 76.

Mrs. Cucinella was born on October 21, 1941 in Sicily, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Rosalia (Lombardo) Gaglio. For many years before her retirement she worked as a medical secretary at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rosa Dechon and her husband James and Lia Cucinella; her grandchildren, Sarina Castro and her husband Yumar, Michael Muso, and Kayla Dechon; and her great-grandchildren, Giana and Xavier.

Visiting will be Tuesday 4-8pm at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 10:45am at St. Raymond’s Church, East Tremont Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue, Bronx. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the American Cancer Society, www.Cancer.org

    Every time she came to Comprehensive Care Center for some reasons I was always the one to triage her and glady I would do it ,she always said hi with a beautiful smile and was so proud to say she use to work in SBH , with a heavy heart i can say she will be missed.My heart goes out to Rosa and her family ,shes physically gone but will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace.

    To my wonderful friend, we had such good times in the many many years i knew you, lots and lots of laughs and so much fun, you were the best and I will miss you so soo much and it will not be the same without you. I know GOD must of needed an Angel and you were chosen. I will always have an ache in my heart and will never forget you. My condolences go out to Rosa, Jimmy, Leah, and all grand children and great grandchildren
    and the rest of her family, she has one of the biggest families with all cousins, nieces, nephews,she was so loved, i will forever hold her in my heart, love and miss you
