Coleen Theresa Rathie

Coleen Theresa Rathie

Coleen Theresa Rathie, a lifelong resident of New York City, died on November 6, 2017. She was 43.

Mrs. Rathie was born on November 26, 1973, in the Bronx, to Thomas and Bridget Alice (Keville) Gately. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband Ian Rathie; her sister, Moira Gately; her brothers, Patrick Gately and his wife Lisa, and Thomas Gately and his wife Daniela; her nieces, Christy Gately, Caroline Gately, Catherine Gately, Maureen Nickerson, and Liliana Gately; her nephew, Sean Gately; her step-daughter, Erica Rathie; and her step-son, Stephen Rathie.

Coleen lived her 43 years with a loving and loyal heart. She loved her family and friends, and cherished family events, especially when she spent time with her nieces and nephew. She traveled the world and met many people, often making fast friends. She had a nature about her that made loving her effortless.

With a doctorate from Columbia University, Coleen was a down-to-earth intellect who was generous with her time often collaborating with or helping others. She worked hard to achieve her life’s goals and was exceedingly successful.

Coleen loved to go on date nights with her sweetheart, Ian. She loved good food, organic lemon drop martinis and Italian wine. She was never afraid to try new things and was always up for an adventure.

Coleen had a great sense of humor and often made those around her laugh until our bellies ached. She was a beautiful soul and human being, and she is already missed beyond words.

A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, November 11 at 10am at Our Lady of Solace Church, 731 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx. Memorial Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, November 11 from 1-4pm, with a service at 2pm, at Joseph A. Lucchese Funeral Home, 726 Morris Park Avenue, Bronx.
